Stud of the Week

Many Seahawks players had good games yesterday. Narrowing it down was very difficult.

2nd honorable mentionRussell Wilson. This weeks game plan didn’t put the entire success of the team on Wilson’s shoulders. His line gave him enough time to throw and Wilson threaded the needle several times resulting in two TD’s.

More from Seattle Seahawks

1st honorable mentionChris Carson. Pete Carroll wanted to run the ball, and by gosh he did. The Seahawks ran the ball 39 times Sunday, with Carson getting the rock 32 of them. He gained 102 yards on the ground and caught two passes for an additional 22. Although his yard-per-carry was only 3.2, Carson took it right at the Dallas defense.

The Stud – Earl Thomas missed practice twice this week for “personal reasons.” I was fully prepared for ET3 to either not play or have a bad game. None of those things happened, Thomas played a whale of a game against his childhood home team. If he wanted to show the Pokes what they would get by trading for him, let’s just say ET3 made his point.

If Thomas can play like that after missing two practices, its amazing to think what he could have done on a full week. ET3 had two big interceptions of Prescott. The first pick happened in the first quarter. Seattle’s offense had done nothing once again in their opening drive of the game. Dallas fielded a punt at their own 16 yard line and made it to their 40 in two plays. Prescott threw a strike to Michael Gullup at midfield which was deflected and Thomas caught against his leg. See above for how the officials and league messed it up from there.

The second pick was almost as nuts as the first. On their previous possession, Dallas scored a touchdown with 7:11 remaining in the game. The Seahawks followed with a three and out forcing them to punt 1:41 later. Prescott drove his team down the Seattle 19 yard line with 3:41 remaining. Bobby Wagner deflected a pass intended for the tight end Blake Jarwin at the 15 yard line. Thomas came down with the ball after some intense aerial pinball. That one put the final nail in Dallas’ coffin.
