Sunday Night: New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys

Ed Stein – For various reasons, this is a big game for me. Both teams enter the Sunday night showdown at Jerry World with 0-1 records. The difference is that the Giants had a shot against a very good Jacksonville defense (but fell apart in the red zone), while the Cowboys never really seemed in it against Carolina.

More from Seattle Seahawks

Forget about Dak Prescott, for Dallas this game will come down to Ezekiel Elliott versus the New York Giants defense. Prescott’s receiving corps is not very good and the Giants secondary is. Zeke will have to beat NYG on the ground.

Rookie running back Saquon Barkley has been a breath of fresh air to the Giants. The improved ground game will open up the passing for QB Eli Manning. Odell Beckham Jr. will once again be a Cowboys killer, but he’ll have help from Evan Engram, Sterling Sheppard, and Barkley. Giants Win.

Matt Barry – Questions about whether Dak Prescott is overrated and if Jason Garrett should remain the head coach in Dallas. The Cowboys were horrific offensively in week 1. They now come home somewhat fragile in a rivalry game.

The Giants competed hard against Jacksonville and lost a close one. Saquon Barkley looks to be the real deal. Barkley and Odell Beckham Jr are an explosive tandem. The Giants seem to be headed in the right direction.

Historically, it seems that the more desperate team usually wins in the NFL. Look for Dallas to be that team. Dallas wins and quiets down the critics for one more week.

Jaymin Bernhardt – This game is interesting because it is between two organizations that are struggling. The Cowboys still have Dak Prescott and the brilliant back of Ezekiel Elliot but outside of Cole Beasley and Tavon Austin, they need somebody else to step up. Can that be their new draftee out of Colorado Michael Gallup be that guy?

The Giants have their own issues with a suspect offensive line and inconsistent offensive play that has continued over from last season. Maybe the addition of Saquon Barkley gets them over the hump. Look for it to be a sloppy game with a lot of turnovers and penalties. Giants pull the win out though, behind the running of Barkley for a 17-14 win over the Cowboys.

Rucker Haringey – Same rule for two teams looking for their first win applies to this game. The Cowboys offense looked really ugly against the Panthers in Week 1. Expect Jason Garrett and company to try some different things against the Giants defense, but the result is going to be pretty similar.

Ezekiel Elliott will have to take this game over to win, and he’s going to come up just short. Instead, look for Saquon Barkley and Odell Beckham, Jr. to do just enough to get New York a big win inside the division. One big play from OBJ should be the difference.
