By Ben Renner
The Seahawks are in the midst of a minicamp right now in their facilities in Redmond, and thankfully the only Michael Bennett news is a slight injury.

Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett doesn’t appear to be heading toward a holdout this season because apparently “my wife told me to get my butt in there.” Bennett has been the target of speculation about his current contract and the possibility that he will hold out for better money before the 2016 season heading into OTAs this year for the Seahawks, but it appears that he will instead show up and try to get the Seahawks back to the Super Bowl.
Bennett did tweak his ankle and has been removed from the current Seahawks minicamp as a precaution. Instead, he’ll try his hand at telling jokes for the interim, saying recently to reporters: “I’ll be your standup comedian the rest of the week. People pay a lot to see comedians of my stature.” People pay a lot of money to see men of his stature trample opposing quarterbacks as well.
With Bennett in the fold for the entirety of the season, the Seahawks can rest easy. They can also rest easy because we haven’t heard any grumblings from strong safety Kam Chancellor, either. Despite Chancellor’s costly holdout last season, it was rumored he could do it again despite the Seahawks policy of not renegotiating contracts before the last year of their deals.
Sure, both Bennett and Chancellor out-performed their contracts last season, but after the disappointment of 2015, it appears both are out to help the Seahawks reclaim the NFL crown in this Game of Thrones, if you will, first, and get new deals second. This is good news for Seahawks fans everywhere.

It’s hard to put a number on the number of wins Chancellor adds to the team, but there’s no doubt he could have helped the Seahawks overcome their slow start to 2015 and march to home field advantage in the playoffs. With both Chancellor and Bennett on the field for the Seahawks defense for (hopefully, knock on wood) the entire year, the defense will dominate yet again.
