After a few offseason workouts, Seahawks cornerback Richarrrd Sherman said the team is “Renewed” from a refreshing offseason and ready to regain the throne.

More from Seattle Seahawks

Richard Sherman said at his press conference after the latest spate of Organized Team Activities (OTAs) and workouts that the team is “renewed” following a longer offseason than the Seahawks are used to.

After their furious comeback against the Carolina Panthers fell just short in the Divisional Round last postseason, the Seahawks started their offseason a few weeks earlier than they had the two years prior, when they repeated as NFC champions.

Sherman said the extra time did the team well:

You always want to make it to the Super Bowl and win it, but there was a silver lining of sorts for us not making last year—letting guys rest their bodies and their minds, because that’s a lot of football on your body. Guys got to heal, guys got to sit back and enjoy their families for a second and come back renewed.

The extra physical and mental rest is yet another reason expectations are high for the Seahawks heading into next season. Even though we’re still three months away from the opening kickoff, the anticipation is palpable with the team. The extra energy shows even in these early workouts.

It also helps to have all hands on deck from the start of offseason workouts. Last season, the Seahawks were missing several key players, including safety and coverage wizard Earl Thomas and cornerback Jeremy Lane, who missed half of 2015 with a gruesomely broken arm. Strong safety Kam Chancellor held out of training camp and into the regular season after nursing a serious injury from the previous year. Even Sherman wasn’t full speed during offseason workouts and training camp after tearing a ligament in his arm in the 2014 playoffs.

This season, Sherman, Chancellor, Lane, and Thomas are all in the fold and building much-needed continuity in the Legion of Boom.
