Seattle Seahawks Signing Stefen Wisniewski Would Complete Perfect Week
Coming into the off-season, acquiring a weapon in the passing game was a necessity for the Seattle Seahawks. They put a big, fat check next to that on the to-do list in bringing in Jimmy Graham.
However, Seattle had to weaken another position group of need in the process. The Seahawks lost Max Unger, their best offensive lineman, in what was a below-average line to begin with.

But according to Mike Garofolo, Pete Carroll and John Schneider are already hot-on-the-trail of Unger’s replacement.
Ex-Oakland Raider, Stefen Wisniewski, is a talented, young and a reasonably-priced free agent center. He is in Seattle this afternoon being recruited by Carroll and co.
The 25-year-old was a second round draft choice of the Raiders in 2011 and immediately slotted into the starting lineup, although he started off at left guard. According to Pro Football Focus’ numerical report on pass blocking efficiency, Wisniewski ranked as the third best center in the NFL in 2014. He also ranked fourth in 2013. However, according to their human-given grades, he ranked 22nd. But it should be noted that Wisniewski excels more in run blocking than he does in pass blocking.

According to an ESPN article from early February, Wisniewski could be asking for a salary around $3 million per year. That would be more than reasonable. If the Seahawks were to take a center in the first round of April’s draft (assuming they still had a first round pick), they would be looking at a figure close to that.
One thing we do know is that Wisniewski will not be playing in silver and black next year after the Raiders’ signing of Rodney Hudson to a five-year, $44.5 million deal.
We’ll have to see if the Seahawks are able to keep Stefen Wisniewski from hopping on a plane out of town tonight, but this is definitely a move Seattle should make.
Acquiring Jimmy Graham will have it’s benefits, but losing Max Unger will have it’s drawbacks. The Seahawks are currently beyond depleted on the offensive line. Replacing Unger by signing a player slightly below his talent level, but also slightly below his cap hit, while also acquiring one of the best pass-catchers in the NFL would be the perfect scenario for the Seattle Seahawks.
