Breshad Perriman UCF WR: Seahawks Draft Profile

Mel Kiper mocked Breshad Perriman to the Seattle Seahawks in his most recent prediction. Would the Central Florida product be a good pick for Seattle?

Breshad Perriman Draft Profile: Strengths

The first thing that jumps out at you is the athleticism, especially for a guy at 6’3″, 215 pounds. He has the quickness to get separation on the slants and quick outs, as well as the top end speed to be a deep-threat.

More from Seattle Seahawks

He is capable of making athletic plays on the ball in traffic with good body control. He went for almost 21 yards per catch in 2014, and could have had more, but his QB didn’t throw the deep ball particularly well, under-throwing Perriman often.

For the most part, he has strong hands. Perriman can make all the catches, and has a great catch radius. He is able to adjust to poor throws extremely well. But as I’ll talk about later, consistency can be an issue.

Breshad Perriman Draft Profile: Weaknesses

Like I said, he has good hands, and makes some fantastic catches. But there are also plays like the one at the 1:44 mark that leave you shaking your head, (however, skip to 2:50 for a pretty awesome play).

The other issue I see is he misplays the ball too often. Sometimes he doesn’t get his head around in time and isn’t able to make the catch, and sometimes he mistimes his jumps.

Breshad Perriman Draft Profile: Seahawks Target at #31?

Overall, Breshad Perriman is right there with Dorial Green-Beckham for the most impressive receiver I’ve scouted thus far, but without the red flags that DGB brings with him. Perriman’s drops were due to a lack of focus, rather than him not being a natural hands-catcher, which he is. He didn’t run at the combine because of a hamstring injury, but he will show off his athleticism at the UCF pro day on March 25.

He and Auburn WR Sammie Coates are extremely similar, but Perriman has far better hands and route-running. I would be ecstatic if the Seahawks take Perriman, and being that he is a big, explosive wide receiver, I would guess most of you would be too.
