Seattle Seahawks Adding 1,000 Seats To CenturyLink Field
Per the team’s official website, the Seattle Seahawks are adding 1,000 seats to the south side of CenturyLink field. That’s right. The loudest stadium in the NFL is about to get even louder.
Team president Peter McLoughlin, also announced the new Toyota Fan Deck, which will go where the 12th Man Flag currently sits. The flagpole will be placed directly above the Toyota Fan Deck on a platform all to itself.
“[The flag] will become even more of a focal point than it has been,” McLoughlin said in the team release. “And the people sitting in that section are going to be a part of that process and the celebration.”
Paul Allen continues to endear himself to Seahawks fans. After saving the team from relocation in 1997, and putting the right people in place over the past 18 years to become one of the most successful franchises in the NFL over that time period, Allen is reportedly the brains of this newest operation.

“We could have filled in the whole upper bowl with just bleacher seats. But there’s nothing special about that, and (owner) Paul Allen was really a driver behind, ‘Let’s do something really good for the fans, something different and unique,’ ” McLouglin said.
As a season ticket holder, I love this. I currently sit a few sections over from the 12th Man Flag, so I might have to spend some time hanging out in the Toyota Fan Deck. Also, adding 1,000 fans to the stadium, in theory, should create an even louder and more exciting atmosphere, as if that was even possible.
And the 12,000 fans on the wait list will obviously love this even more. Current season ticket holders will get first crack at the new sections, with the rest of the available seats going to those on the waiting list, presumably along with the seats vacated by season ticket holders moving.
So either way, 1,000 ‘Hawks fans will be getting some REALLY good news in the not-too-distant future.
