Five Seattle Seahawks Earn NFL All-Pro Honors

It would be reasonable to argue with any football fan that the Seattle Seahawks are one of the best teams that the NFL has seen in its rich history.

More from Seattle Seahawks

The team is led by its dominating defense, one that draws comparison to the best defenses the NFL has had. It’s the same defense that held one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time to just eight points in last year’s Super Bowl. It was the same offense that had broken NFL records for points scored.

A great defensive unit has to have great players.

The point that I’m trying to make here is that the Seahawks have four members of their defense named to the Associated Press All-Pro team. Marshawn Lynch was also named to the All-Pro 2nd team and is Seattle’s only offensive representative.

Linebacker Bobby Wagner, cornerback Richard Sherman and safeties Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas have earned the honor for the 2014-2015 season.

Chancellor was the only one of the four that was named to the All-Pro 2nd team. The other three defensive playmakers all earned 1st team All-Pro.

Sherman and Thomas have now earned the distinction three years running. Which would be a strong case that both should be considered the best players in the entire league at their respective positions.

Bobby Wagner on the other hand has never been named to the NFL’s All-Pro team but has easily earned the nod despite having missed five games during the regular season. The fact that the voting members selected Wagner despite the amount of time he has missed is a testament to just how lights out he has been the final weeks of the regular season.

Without their middle linebacker, the Seahawks might not have earned the #1 seed in the NFC playoffs and a first round bye. Thanks to owning the NFL’s top-ranked defense for a second straight year, Seattle will host every playoff game until the Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona on February 1st, 2015.

Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was third in voting among his position and also earned a mysterious vote as a fullback.

Defensive end Michael Bennet also garnered three votes while James Carpenter somehow managed to receive a vote as a guard.
