The Seattle Mariners had been bad for a REALLY long time, and Felix was around for all of it. He threw more one-run losses and meaningless shutouts in the average month than any pitcher should have to endure in their career.

At any point in the past eight years, he could have done what 95% of MLB stars do and skip town at the first possible chance for the bright lights of New York or Boston. But he stuck with it, and signed a contract that will keep him a Mariner until 2020.

And now, both he, and the Mariners, are reaping the rewards of his patience.

Thank you, Felix Hernandez.
