It’s that time of year again!

Thanksgiving is synonymous with getting together with family and eating enough food to make even our 49er friend here feel queasy.

And maybe you’re family is an… interesting bunch. Just be thankful that you’re not a Harbaugh, where every dinner ceremoniously ended with John hogging the mashed potatoes and Jim responding as only Jim can respond.

Then after being grounded, Jim would vehemently appeal to his parents, but to no avail.

But on a serious note, it’s really is a great time to be a Seattle sports fan. So lets take the time to thank those that have made it happen.

Pete Carroll

With the Seahawks being so successful the past few years, it’s easy to forget how devoid of talent they were just a few short years ago. Max Unger and Brandon Mebane are all that remain from the Mike Holmgren era (and also Jim Mora, if you can call one year an era).

But Pete, along with GM John Schneider, put together quite possibly the greatest rebuilding project in the history of sports. Going from 5-11 and full of aging vets to a Super Bowl-winning team whose window is just opening in four years is unheard of.

You know what else is unheard of? Having your team built on a foundation of late-round picks.

Russell Wilson (3rd), Richard Sherman (5th), Kam Chancellor (5th), Byron Maxwell (6th), KJ Wright (4th), Malcolm Smith (7th), JR Sweezy (7th), Doug Baldwin (undrafted) and Jermaine Kearse (undrafted) are all starters for the Seahawks drafted in the mid-to-late rounds (or later) in the past four years.

So I’m going to speak for everyone here and say thank you, Pete Carroll.
