Stanford at Washington Huskies

Shane– Washington comes in licking their wounds from an embarrassing loss to Cal. Stanford also enters on a down note, losing to Wazzu. They need to prove to themselves that they can still win against higher tier opponents. Stanford in a close game wins this one.

Matt Barry – Washington has hit a bit of a wall mid-season. They are coming off a disappointing loss to Cal 12-10. It was a game in which senior QB Jake Browning was benched for a short time resulting in Jake Haener throwing a pick-six on the ensuing pass. Browning wasn’t thrilled about being yanked.

There may be some deeper issues that prevent Washington from winning this week, but I am going on the assumption that Browning will be angry enough to perform better. Washington is a surprising 10.5 point favorite. I think it will be closer than that. Huskies win a tight one.

Herb Nightingale – Both teams lost last week. Stanford lost late in the game to Washington State at home 41-38, while the Huskies lost to the California Bears in Berkeley 12-10. I expect this game to be a close one since both teams need the game to stay in the race for the Rose Bowl or another one of the big bowl games. Each has two losses in the PAC-12 so the loser will be in dire straights. Since it is a home game I give the Huskies the win 31-28.

Ed Stein – Two teams both coming off of disappointing losses. Even though they both suffered devastating losses, there is still much to play for. Specifically, bowl positioning. It’s also a huge game for Huskies quarterback Jake Browning. After last week’s awful performance, he can’t afford to blow it again because it may take him off many NFL team’s draft boards. Washington wins.
