Last Week
The North Dakota Fighting Hawks had a relatively easy time with Mississippi Valley State (Jerry Rice U.) last Saturday, winning 35-7. The Hawks had 21 points on the board before MVSU scored their only touchdown in the second quarter. North Dakota thoroughly stifled Mississippi Valley’s ground game. In 26 rushing attempts, the Delta Devils had -27 yards. The Hawks weren’t as stingy on pass defense allowing 263 yards through the air.

UND’s ground game tore through the Delta Devils defense to the tune of 293 yards, averaging 5.9 yards-per-carry (YPC). Brady Oliveira and John Santiago ran for a combined 199 yards on 31 carries. Even quarterback Nate Ketteringham averaged 4.2 YPC with a touchdown run.
The Hawks passing attack wasn’t as prevalent as their running game last week, but Kettering had a decent day. He threw for 225 yards and 3 TDs on 19 of 31 passing. The QB spread his passes around, four different receivers had at least three receptions.
Washington football took a bit of a hit to their National Championship hopes losing to Auburn 21-16 in Atlanta. Husky fans know the particulars of their early struggles against a very tough Tigers defense. UW eventually got their ship moving in the right direction, but their failures in the red zone were their undoing.
Washington quarterback Jake Browning didn’t have his accuracy down but still threw for 296 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. 135 of those yards went to Aaron Fuller, who had seven receptions. Ty Jones added 77 yards on three catches. Tailback Myles Gaskin had a relatively good game gaining 75 yards against Auburn’s impressive defensive line.
This Week
The Huskies are in the same situation as Washington State is today, playing a cannon fodder game. Washington will absolutely destroy North Dakota. As I wrote in my predictions earlier today, compared to the size of Auburn, the Huskies will feel like they are playing a JV team.
If either Browning or Gaskin plays more than one drive in the second half, it would be a total shock. The most important thing for the Huskies today is their offensive line. They have one more game to solidify themselves without Adams before the PAC-12 season starts next week in Utah.
