The Seahawks defeated divisional foe Arizona on the road to move to 6-3, but likely lose Richard Sherman for season, among other injuries.

Oy. The Seahawks won the game but lost the battle on Thursday Night Football against the Arizona Cardinals. The final score read 22-16 in Glendale, but they lost their star cornerback for the season.

Strong safety Kam Chancellor was also in the injury tent at game’s end, adding to the long list of injuries from tonight’s sloppy, penalty-filled divisional contest.

Left tackle Duane Brown left the game in the second quarter with an ankle injury and did not return, joining defensive tackle Jarran Reed in the locker room, who hurt his hamstring in the first quarter. It wouldn’t be an injury-filled game without running back C.J. Prosise hurting himself as well. He was bent backwards on a play in the third quarter, injuring his ankle.

Sherman finished a tackle after giving up a completion on 3rd and 18 holding his already-injured ankle. The cameras clearly caught him saying he tore his Achilles and telling Russell Wilson, “I’m out for the year.”

Sherman indeed ruptured his Achilles, ending his season (has he played his last down as a Seahawk?). Shaquill Griffin, who hurt his shoulder in the game but returned, will be the Seahawks top cornerback for the rest of 2017.

Thanks to a truly incredible play by Russell Wilson and a spirited effort by the defense, the Seahawks won on the road in a crucial divisional game. Tight end Jimmy Graham snagged two touchdown passes from Wilson. It seems Wilson can simply throw the ball up to Graham when they get near the endzone at this point.

The defense will be a shell of its former self without Sherman. Chancellor has a chance to return in ten days when Seattle plays the Falcons on Monday Night Football next week. The defense will likely get free safety Earl Thomas back as well. It will take All-Pro play from both to overcome the loss of Sherman.
