Alex Collins

Collins showed flashes of brilliance last season, his rookie year, for the Seahawks, but he didn’t show enough to keep Schneider and company from pursuing a veteran free agent running back like Eddie Lacy. Now Collins appears to be behind the three-headed monster of C.J. Prosise, Thomas Rawls, and Lacy.

Pete Carroll even hand-picked Chris Carson in the seventh round of the draft out of Oklahoma State to add to the running back mix, and even though the Seahawks released Troymaine Pope, they can still re-sign if he’s available on the free agent market.

It’s time for Collins to grow into the running back he wants to be for the Seahawks. Prosise, Rawls, and Lacy have had their share of injuries. Having an able and willing Collins backing them up would be advantageous. But, he has to show something in training camp, or we could see someone like Mike Davis take mop-up duty behind the three-headed hydra.

Is it Football Season yet?

The speculation will continue through training camp and into preseason. Even when the regular season starts, we could see healthy scratches and mix-and-matching on the Seahawks roster. Every NFL team deals with its own spate of injuries and has to make adjustments. I hope that all of the adjustments the Hawks coaching staff makes are due to minor injuries as the season goes along. I’ve seen enough of what serious injuries and ineffective offensive line play can do to the Seahawks, a potential Super Bowl contender this year.
