Washington Huskies receive a verbal commitment from four-star wide receiver Austin Osborne, who has all the tools required to succeed.

We say this with some trepidation, given the recent trend in decommitting, but the Washington Huskies received a significant boost on Friday. As reported by Adam Jude of The Seattle Times, Auston Osborne has verbally committed to play for Chris Petersen’s team in 2018.

Osborne shared his decision on Twitter: “I am proud to announce that I am committed to the University of Washington. Go Dawgs!”

The California native is considered one of the top wide receivers in the nation. ESPN, 247 Sports and scout.com all consider him a four-star recruit.

Scout.com in particular, describe Osborne as a long, athletic receiver who runs well, explodes out of his breaks and makes plays down the field. In addition, he’s a polished route runner, with great hands.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and between 185-190 lbs (depending on your source), the youngster has all the tools required to succeed. It’s no surprise he received 14 scholarship offers, including ones from UCLA, Colorado and Michigan.

While Osborne’s early commitment comes as somewhat of a surprise, he sounds convinced by his decision. As reported by Jude, he told scout.com: “In my mind, there’s not a better college out there for me.

“There’s no other offer out there that would top Washington for me, so when you find the perfect fit, why put it off? I know other players commit and then look around but that’s not me, I’m 100 percent all in with Washington and won’t be taking any other visits or even talking to other schools.”

With one year remaining at Misson Viejo High School, Osborne added that he wants to concentrate on enjoying his senior season. Last season, he had 36 receptions, 961 yards and 16 touchdowns.

As reported by The Score, Osborne is ranked 205th on the 2018 ESPN Junior 300. He becomes the third member of the list to commit to Washington, along with quarterback Jacob Sirmon and outside linebacker Jack Sirmon, who are cousins.
