Super Bowl 51 TV Announcers Will Gush over the Belichick–Brady Legacy and Barely Mention Dan Quinn at all

This is entirely subjective and totally dependent on what you would define as ‘gush’ and your conception of how much is too much gushing.

Super Bowl 51 is a historic day for Belichick and Brady. Belichick has enjoyed a nearly unprecedented level of success as the coach of the New England Patriots since he took over in 2000. Brady, of course could surpass Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw for the most Super Bowl championships as a quarterback ever.

We all know this, and we also all know the love and admiration Joe Buck and Troy Aikman have for Brady, Belichick, and any sports team that isn’t from Seattle, especially if that team is wildly successful like the Patriots.

More from Emerald City Swagger

Therefore, despite your efforts not to listen, Buck and Aikman will talk your ear off about the greatness of Belichick and Brady. Since the Cowboys aren’t involved in the Super Bowl, Aikman can throw his wholehearted admiration behind the favorite, the historically great team. Buck is already known for his Evil Empire worship from his obnoxious coverage of any MLB playoff game involving the New York Yankees for the past twenty-five years. (Haven’t been many lately, though, lol).

We also all know of this broadcasting crew’s hatred of the Seahawks. Their insistence on Seattle getting away with hand-fighting on defense constantly and their overtly negative coverage of all Seahawks games they seem to roll their eyes at is no secret to 12s.

Therefore, we can expect the minimum number of words spoken about Dan Quinn and his sordid past as the Seahawks’ defensive coordinator from Buck-Aik* during the game.

I Hope I’m Wrong

I’m ambivalent about the defensive player winning the MVP thing, but I, like you, unless you’re a Chowderhead, hope I’m wrong about pretty much everything else. Maybe by putting it in print the universe will make me look foolish with my predictions yet again.

*Buck-Aik. I just came up with that! You can use it at your Super Bowl party for a laugh. Tweet me the responses it gets.
