The Seattle Sounders are apparently back in the running for Sebastian Blanco, but how realistic is it to expect the attacking midfielder to come to the Pacific Northwest?

The name Sebastian Blanco is probably already familiar to most Seattle Sounders‘ supporters. After all, the Rave Green attempted to acquire him during last summer’s transfer window.

In the end, the Sounders signed a certain Nicolas Lodeiro. As we now know, this proved to be the genesis of a sensational run, which ended with the first MLS Cup in team history.

Not a franchise to rest on its laurels, it now appears the Sounders are once again showing interest in Blanco. In fact, as per the latest speculation, they have apparently already made another offer for him.

More from Seattle Sounders

While the amount of the Sounders’ bid is unknown at the time of writing, the price back in the summer was $2 million. In addition, another report suggests Club America have offered $4 million for his services.

Certainly, the 28-year old would be an intriguing addition to Brian Schmetzer’s roster, in large part due to his versatility. While he mostly plays on the left wing, he is more than capable of switching sides, operating in the middle and up front.

Blanco is off to a fantastic start this season for San Lorenzo, with three goals and five assists in just 10 appearances. Just the thought of an attacking formation including him, Lodeiro, Jordan Morris and — hopefully — Clint Dempsey, is enough to leave Sounders’ fans salivating and opponents sweating.

Of course, whether the Buenos Aires, Argentina native ends up in Seattle remains to be seen. However, one aspect which helps the Sounders, is that his current club have no desire in sending him to another team in the Argentinian Primera Division.
