Seahawks’ head coach Pete Carroll said in his Monday press conference that running back Thomas Rawls will return for the regular season finale against the 49ers.

Pete Carroll said in his Monday press conference of Seahawks Thomas Rawls: “He has an afternoon MRI, I don’t have the results of that, He thought he was OK, though. He felt OK when I visited with him.”

Rawls has been sporting a shoulder injury since the 34-31 loss to the Cardinals. Rookie running back Alex Collins spelled Rawls, who had been struggling in that game, and surprisingly showed some burst behind a particularly brutal offensive line performance. He produced 28 yards on seven carries against Arizona.

Although Rawls has struggled at times this season with injuries and no one knowing how to throw a run block, he remains the Seahawks‘ most explosive and available running back on the roster. With C.J. Prosise still out, Rawls will have to carry the load if the Seahawks are to make a deep run in the playoffs.

With the NFC West already clinched, the Seahawks will be after that crucial first round bye in the season’s final week. Their road meeting with the 2-13 San Francisco 49ers will be a way for the Seahawks to restore their menace against the league’s worst rushing defense and worst passing offense.

However, with the Seahawks heavy favorites to beat the hapless 9ers, the most important game on Sunday will be the Saints versus the Falcons in the Georgia Dome. If the Saints win and the Seahawks manage a win at San Francisco (who are minus their best player, running back Carlos Hyde), Seattle earns a bye and at least one home game on the road to Super Bowl 51.

Both the Hawks-49ers game and the Saints-Falcons games start at 1:25 on Sunday. If you have NFL Sunday Ticket or some other multiple game-watching service, flip back and forth, and don’t be stingy with other Hawks supporters. We’re all rooting for Drew Brees and company on Sunday. I want to see #whodat hashtags on tweets, people!
