We conducted a poll to find out what Seattle sports fans would want for Christmas, if they were allowed one wish from Santa.

Christmas is here and the holidays are in full swing. It is a time for giving and receiving. This brings to mind, if Seattle fans were allowed one wish from Santa, what would it be?

What do Seattle sports fans want for Christmas?

I conducted a three-day poll on Twitter. The choices were the Seahawks winning this upcoming Super Bowl, the Mariners winning the 2017 World Series, the Sonics returning to Seattle or the UW Huskies winning the College Football Playoff.

Here are the results of that poll…

It is clear that Seattle fans truly wish for the Sonics to return to Seattle and for the NBA to be back in the Emerald City. Sports fans in the Pacific Northwest truly would sacrifice a championship of one of the current teams to have them back.

The love for the Seahawks is strong here, as they were neck and neck for most of the poll period. It also probably has something to do with the fact they are smack in the middle of the playoff race this very moment. The 12s are strong.

More from Emerald City Swagger

The baseball Seattle fans are desperate for a Mariners World Series, since the M’s have never even appeared in the Fall Classic. Meanwhile, the UW Huskies are looking for their first national championship since 1991.

The Seattle sports fanbase is a unique one in the United States. Besides the Portland Trailblazers, there is not another major sports city for hundreds of miles. The fans of Seattle teams stretch across multiple states and even into Canada.

The sports world has been good to this region lately (Seahawks winning Super Bowl XLVIII, the Sounders winning the 2016 MLS Cup, the Huskies in this season’s College Football Playoff and the Mariners in postseason challenges in 2014 and 2016.) The only thing that could make things better would be to have the Supersonics back in town.

Now, the dream is not dead. There are things in the works in “Santa’s workshop.” A lot of things need to happen but hey, it’s Christmas. Miracles can happen, right?
