Seattle Sounders: 3 Takeaways from Dominant Win vs FC Dallas
By Paul Taylor
Three key factors which played a significant part in the Seattle Sounders unexpected, but deserved 3-0 win over FC Dallas at CenturyLink Field.
The Seattle Sounders are well on their way to completing stage two of their revenge tour, after beating an FC Dallas team which knocked them out of the playoffs in heartbreaking fashion last season. Now, short of a collapse of epic proportions, the Rave Green look all but set to advance to the Western Conference Finals.
Heading into Sunday night, you could argue that keeping a clean sheet was the most important aim. Yes, of course a win would be nice, but it was imperative not to let FC Dallas score a precious away goal.

In the end, no one could have predicted what transpired. although the unexpected 3-0 win was genuinely deserved. It was also symbolic/ironic that after concerns about the Sounders playing three games in eight days, they ended up scoring three goals in eight minutes.
Of course, the tie isn’t over yet – we all know what the Supporters Shield winners are capable of. However, it must be comforting to be in a position where even one away goal in the second leg will leave FC Dallas needing to score five times to advance.
Certainly, next Sunday can’t come soon enough. First things first though, let’s look at three key factors which contributed to the Sounders’ impressive win at CenturyLink Field.
