The Sounders headed to Texas with an offense on the rise and revenge in their hearts for their playoff loss last season to FC Dallas. Instead they fell 2-0 in Frisco last night.

More from Seattle Sounders

The Sounders lost to FC Dallas last night in Frisco, Texas 2-0. Dallas’ Mauro Gomez scored the first goal on a penalty kick in the third minute and Michael Barrios notched the final nail in the Sounders’ coffin with a 78th minute goal. The Sounders remain winless on the road and fell to 4-5-1 overall.

As expected from two aggressive sides, the match was frenetic from the opening whistle. FC Dallas took advantage when the Sounders‘ Chad Marshall was called for a foul in his own penalty box on Walker Zimmerman in the third minute. The Sounders had multiple chances for an equalizer in the first half. Striker Jordan Morris and defender Joevin Jones each had good looks at goals, but both were saved by FC Dallas goalkeeper Chris Seitz.

Former Sounders staple Rosales found Gomez on a perfect setup on goal for FC Dallas’ second goal. The score could have been much worse if Sounders keeper Stefan Frei hadn’t made several saves earlier in the match. He also came out to stop multiple Dallas advances deep in Sounders territory. The Sounders also couldn’t get much going in the second half. Coach Sigi Schmid called the match “one of those nights.”
