This led to offers from some of the biggest colleges in the country, including Nebraska, Oklahoma, Penn State and UCLA. However, Bryant deciding to stay local, referencing the atmosphere within the Huskies program.
Speaking on 710 ESPN Seattle earlier this week, the Bellevue native said: “The whole coaching staff, the feel there and like the family that they have there – I didn’t really find that in any other school, and that was one of the main things I was looking for.”
What stood out most during the interview was Bryant’s confidence, specifically when it came to discussing the University of Oregon. The Ducks have been the model of consistency in recent years, finishing first or second in the division eight straight seasons and winning five Bowl games during that time.
Regardless, the Eastside Catholic High School recruit said: “They’re definitely not going to beat UW in the next, at least, five years. They should have lost last year, too.”
Given that the Huskies have lost 12 consecutive games to their Pac-12 rivals, this prediction may seem optimistic. However, maybe we should get used to Bryant’s swagger.
The confidence is understandable, with the 6’4″, 240 pounder providing an imposing target for opposing teams to contend with. He finished his senior year with 48 catches, for over 1,000 yards and 17 touchdown receptions.
In fact, it’s not surprising to hear other programs are still in contact. As Bryant said: “Some colleges are still calling me, and still like hitting me up and seeing if I want to de-commit from UW and all that.”
As far as Bryant’s concerned though, he’s content with his decision to remain in Seattle: “It’s definitely been a lot less stressful since I committed.”
