Chad Marshall scores four minutes into injury time to give the Seattle Sounders a crucial and hard-fought tie against the Houston Dynamo.

For some people, the fact the Seattle Sounders equalized so late in the proceedings means they were extremely lucky to leave Texas with a point. However, whatever your opinion, a change in fortune was the least they deserved, after some of the calls that went against them during the first three games of the season.

The Sounders have never won in Houston and it appeared they were in for another long day, especially after the Houston Dynamo scored in 35 minutes. The Seattle defense quite frankly looked like they were sleep walking, as Giles Barnes gave the home side a 1-0 lead.

Despite the dire straights at half time, the Sounders played better during the second 45 minutes, aided by some inspired substitutions. In fact, Sigi Schmid‘s men went on to dominate in a number of areas as they pushed forward, including possession, crosses and corners.

However, Seattle rarely tested Joe Willis in the Dynamo goal and they were still desperately searching for an equalizer as the game entered stoppage time. Then this happened:

Chad Marshall‘s reaction to scoring tells you everything you need to know. He was more relieved than excited, probably worn out after playing 90+ minutes in the heat at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Regardless, it was imperative the Sounders gained something from the trip to Houston, as they continue to recover from their franchise-worst start to the 2016 season. Seattle now return home, in preparation for hosting the Philadelphia Union next weekend.
