The Seattle Sounders have reportedly agreed to play West Ham United in a friendly, as part of the English side’s preparations for next season in the EPL.

The Seattle Sounders have proved to be a popular opponent for English Premier League sides preparing for the new season. Manchester United, Chelsea (twice) and Tottenham Hotspur have all made the trip to CenturyLink Field, since the Sounders joined MLS in 2009.

Now, it appears Seattle are set to play host to another EPL team this summer. As originally reported by kumb.com, West Ham United will apparently face them, as part of their preseason preparations ahead of the 2016-17 season in England.

Although not on the same level as the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea, West Ham still have a long history to be proud of. This includes winning the European Cup Winners Cup and three FA Cups.

More from Seattle Sounders

Their most recent cup win in 1980 against Arsenal is considered one of the biggest shocks in FA Cup history, as it remains the last time a club outside the top flight won the trophy. In addition, they are one of just eight teams to have never played lower than the second tier of English football.

This season, West Ham are currently in sixth place in the Premier League and aiming to finish fifth, for the first time since 1999. If they can achieve this, or better, it will ensure European football next season, just in time for their move to the Olympic Stadium.

Sounders fans should enjoy the game against one of the more entertaining EPL sides. West Ham are also scheduled to face the Houston Dynamo on their summer tour and are still looking to add at least one more fixture.
