3) Jordan Morris

Earlier this week, Sigi Schmid talked to the media about the form of Jordan Morris: “There’s been a lot of expectations that have been heaped upon him, not least of which by you guys.”

Certainly, after three games, Morris did seem to be struggling with the pressure, as evidenced by no goals and assists, combined with little impact on the pitch in general. With this in mind, the Sounders coach decided to put his budding superstar on the bench, although he did enter the fray early in the second half.

At the time of posting, Schmid had not yet decided whether to return Morris to the starting XI, indicating he would likely go with his gut feeling as kickoff approached.  (We trust he’ll avoid spicy foods, otherwise his decision-making could well be compromised.) Given last week’s win, combined with wanting to protect the 21-year old, bringing him off the subs bench might make most sense again.
