After missing two games with a dislocated shoulder, Brad Evans could be set to return to the Seattle Sounders lineup for the upcoming game against the Montreal Impact.

Sitting at the bottom of the standings as the only MLS team without a single point, the Seattle Sounders sure could use some good news. Now, it appears they may be about to get some, courtesy of Brad Evans.

As reported by Matt Pentz of The Seattle Times, Evans returned to practice on Tuesday, at Seattle’s training complex in Tukwila. It was his first appearance, since suffering a dislocated shoulder in the home-opener against Sporting KC.

The Sounders captain was sporting a shoulder brace during training, as a precaution. At this time, he is unsure how long he’ll need the brace, but expects to wear it for at least the next month or two.

More from Seattle Sounders

Evans presence at practice will certainly provide a boost to the Sounders. However, a return against the Montreal Impact on Saturday will depend on how well training goes in the next couple of days.

At this point, the biggest concern is not to re-injure the shoulder. Speaking to the media after training, the 30-year old said: “Hopefully it doesn’t happen again.

“If it does, it’ll be a big-time problem. I’m trying to rehab as much as I can, get it strong.”

In truth, the Sounders early season struggles haven’t really been down to the defense. Take away the two dubious penalty awards for the Vancouver Whitecaps, and they’ve only conceded three goals so far.

Regardless, it all starts at the back. Keep a clean sheet, and Seattle can get at least their first point of the season, part of why Evans’ return is so important.

Of course, this will also come down to the Phoenix, Arizona native’s fitness, which he says is good: “Almost five-six days after the injury I was already doing fitness on the side, so that’s the hardest part about this injury.

“I felt fine and my legs felt great on the sideline doing fitness before and after (training), but I just wasn’t able to play as much. I feel good to be honest.”
