Guaipe seems like he should be better than he’s been, given his minor league track record as an absolutely alright reliever with an appealing stinginess towards free bases. He hardly walks anyone in Tacoma, and carried that over to Seattle this year. But he also only has pitched 12 innings with the MLB team, and they’ve been mostly disastrous despite the good control.

No strikeouts? Check. Lots of hard contact? Check. Guaipe’s got the makings of something, but since this year is this year he’s of course been unable to put it all together. He should get a long look in September, because he might be a good bit better than we’ve seen thus far.
