Super Bowl 49 Viewer’s Guide

So you want to watch the Super Bowl. Cool! That makes 170 million of us, then. Thankfully, we have things like television and the internet. So while there may not be a couch in the world that can fit every Super Bowl watcher, there’s no reason to think a single one of us should have to be left in the dark when it comes time for The Big Game.

Speaking of which, when does the Super Bowl start? 3:30pm! Pacific time, that is. 6:30pm on the East coast, if that’s where you are. But this is a Seattle site, and so let’s just print the home team’s start time in bold: 3:30pm. Three thirty in the afternoon. Don’t be late.

Who’s going to sing the National Anthem? That would be Idina Menzel. Who’s she? She’s a 43 year old actress and singer who’s famous for her roles in Rent, Glee, and Frozen. She’s not going to do the halftime show, though, because Katy Perry is going to do the halftime show. Do you love Katy Perry? Cool, me too. This should be a fun one.

You’ve probably noticed that this game will be played in Phoenix, Arizona, home of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals. Yet the Cardinals aren’t even playing in this game! There are a lot of reasons for that. The Seattle Seahawks are perhaps the two biggest reasons.

Okay, enough gloating. CBS is showing the Super Bowl, and so this should be a pretty accessible game. Most people with TV get CBS! But even if you’re one of the unlucky few without such service, fear not. They’re also going to be streaming the game live on their website. That means no obnoxious torrents that need to be constantly refreshed. This game’s going to be easy to watch.

Unless you’re a New England Patriots fan, that is, since it’s hard to watch a game while covering your eyes in terror and disgust! Again, I kid. But maybe not. Hopefully not. Remember how nobody thought last year’s Super Bowl was going to be a blowout? Nobody thinks this year’s Super Bowl is going to be a blowout. Thus, it’s probably going to be a blowout.

So to refresh: watch at 3:30pm on CBS or online. The Seahawks will be playing as the home team, which doesn’t really matter. Here’s a website that can help you find what channel to watch on: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/superbowl. If you’re watching in the downtown Seattle area, prepare to swarm the streets after the game ends. Don’t forget to wear green and blue! Go Seahawks!
