Seahawks vs. 49ers Position-By-Position Preview: Defensive Line

The Seahawks pass rush is composed of Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril and Bruce Irvin. Ideally, they would have a few more guys who can rotate in a put pressure on QB’s. But they don’t have that guy. And without Brandon Mebane on the interior, the Seattle rushing defense could be exploited.

At this point in his career, Justin Smith isn’t any better than Avril or Bennett. But San Francisco has more players capable of rushing the passer. Especially with Aldon Smith back from suspension.

*Sidenote: The fact that Ray McDonald hasn’t been suspended is hypocrisy at its finest. The whole “No More” campaign you see on TV is all about how we can’t sit back and say “she seems fine to me”, “why doesn’t she just leave?”, and “why didn’t she tell anyone?” But yet, after McDonald beat and threatened his pregnant fiancé,  the NFL did not suspend him due to the fact that she declined to press charges. Unbelievable.

Advantage: 49ers
