What to expect when you’re expecting… to win

"Jacksonville is possibly the worst, Seattle is possibly the best, and this game was played in CenturyLink. This game was never in doubt. Before the Big Bang happened, demigods were sitting around laying two-to-one on the Seahawks to cover. (I don’t know much about gambling, but that sounds about right.)"

On the intrigue of starting fresh

"Could Jack Zduriencik’s foundation solidify next year, and his much-derided plan finally reach a point where a destination is within sight, once he finally spends big on a multitude of free agents? Absolutely. Is it possible the next general manager runs this thing through the floor and a few hundred feet deeper, setting the course for a Pirates-level run of despair? Oh, for sure."

Should the Mariners Pursue Jose Abreu to Catapult the Offense?

"The Mariners offense has been a disappointing one for what often seems like forever. At times, it feels as though no matter what the M’s do, the problem remains unsolved. The kids struggle. Free agents fall apart. Future contributors are traded away."

UW Moves Up To 16 In AP Poll

"The Huskies have moved up a single spot to number 16 in the AP poll released just a few minute ago. Meanwhile, UW comes in at number 20 in the updated version of the USA Today Coaches Poll. This week’s changes represent the continuation of a steady upward climb over the course of the season. Coach Sarkisian’s team began the year unranked in both polls, but entered the top-25 after a week one defeat of then-19th ranked Boise State."
