Hey, there’s a game going on

I couldn’t help feeling a little disoriented and confused on that day. It was without a doubt the least involved, excited and energetic game I have ever attended in Seattle. There are some don’t want to hear those types of comments. It rankled quite a few to hear the announcers mention it and many will fight both them and me to the end insisting it didn’t happen. Let’s face it 12s have set a high level for enthusiasm over the years and it just wasn’t there.

Even on the road, 12s represent. Even recently we can look to the London game against the Raiders back in October. Wembley Stadium sounded like it was transported for the day to Washington state. Its why I was so disappointed by the lack of enthusiasm shown by the fans.

As I mulled the experience over in the following days and weeks, attempting to make sense of the quiet and detached fan base, I started to realize a few things. While there have been glimpses of excellent football this season in Seattle, there has also been some abysmal play. Most fans who are honest with themselves can admit that there wasn’t much in the way of expectations coming into the season.
