6) California (6-4, 3-4)

Last Week: Idle. Due to the wildfires in Northern California, their game against Stanford was moved to December 8.

This Week: vs Colorado

Note: Two more games remaining in this season for the Golden Bears to work their way into an upper tier bowl game. A home game against Colorado is a great way to start.

5) Oregon (7-4, 4-4)

Last Week: Oregon narrowly escaped Arizona State at Autzen Stadium last week. It took a late fourth-quarter fumble recovery to lock up a win. The highlight of the game was Justin Herbert’s 57-yard touchdown pass to Dillon Mitchell in the fourth quarter.

This Week: at Oregon State.

Note: It’s Civil War week in Oregon. It would be a major shock if the Ducks drop this one. C.J. Verdell will run and Herbert will pass for big yards against a weak defense.

4) Stanford (6-4, 4-3)

Last Week: Idle. Due to the wildfires in Northern California, their game against California was moved to December 8.

This Week: at UCLA.

Note: Stanford’s most recent game was against Oregon State, so UCLA isn’t a huge jump in difficulty. The Cardinal should cruise to victory here and maybe get a chance to rest some key players for “The Big Game” December 8 at Cal.

3) #17 Utah (8-3, 6-3)

Last Week: It was the Utes turn to beat up Colorado. They spotted the Buffs seven points in the first quarter, then scored the next 30 to win 30-7. Freshman quarterback Jason Shelley may not be Tyler Huntley just yet, but he still threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns on 11 for 23 passing. Jaylen Dixon was on the receiving end of four of Shelley’s passes for 125 yards and a score. Utah’s defense was their usual stingy selves, holding Colorado to 196 yards and forcing three turnovers.

This Week: vs. Brigham Young.

Note: Three weeks ago, this game against their in-state rivals, probably looked much easier. Huntley was the QB, and the Utes also had Zack Moss in the backfield. Additionally, BYU had lost four of five. Now Utah is without two of their three best offensive players and Brigham Young has won two straight. The Utes still have more than enough defense to win in their championship game tune-up.
