The Gonzaga Bulldogs basketball team has been America’s Cinderella story for 20 years. Are they the underdogs of the past or the dynasty of the present?

Underdogs or Dynasty? That is the question that will always be asked until the Zags win it all. The Gonzaga Bulldogs have been underdogs since the first time they reached the NCAA tournament back in 1995. That season, I fell in love with my hometown team. They were the underdogs in the West Coast Conference tourney and won it all to make their first-ever March Madness appearance.

Of course, they lost to Maryland in the first round, but my love for the Zags grew with each and every season thereafter. Rooting for the underdog is what many sports fans love to do. The Zags have been the underdog in many of the following seasons since that first ever trip to the “big dance”. With that underdog label, you might even say the Gonzaga Bulldogs may be a dynasty of the 2000’s.

Underdogs of the past, or first dynasty of the present?
