Utah at Washington State Cougars

Andrew Durant – Utah is going against Washington State in its first game after losing to UW by two touchdowns two weeks ago. Utah allowed Myles Gaskin to rack up 143 yards on the ground. Jake Browning and Gaskin together almost gained to 300 yards by themselves. If Utah can’t contain QB Gardner Minshew and RB James Williams, then I don’t see Utah pulling the win at WSU. The Cougs have definitely been a surprise this year. I’m taking Washington State for this matchup.

Ed Stein – I think this game is a toss-up. Washington State suffered their first loss of the season last week at Southern California. If they can pull themselves up from that, their defense is good enough to a) keep Utes quarterback Tony Huntley from taking off, and b) keep the score down. Mike Leach throws just enough wrinkles on offense at Utah to win at home.

Matt Barry – This is a tricky one. Utah gave Washington a battle and plays good enough defense to make Cougars QB Gardner Minshew a little uncomfortable. If Utah runs the ball and makes this a low scoring physical game, then the Cougars might be in trouble. You keep waiting for Minshew to have that tough, subpar game where teams figure him out. I am tempted to take the Utes, but WSU seems to be more prepared for these types of games this season. I say the Cougars win on a late field goal.
