Since 2014 the Seattle Seahawks have been in a steady decline. Are they drafting subpar talent?

The Seattle Seahawks have gone from a yard away from winning the Super Bowl in 2015 to a 1-2 start in 2018 with a vastly different roster. The Seahawks defense was up to the challenge in the 24-13 win Sunday over Dallas. The charge was led by disgruntled star cornerback Earl Thomas’ playmaking ability. He is one of a few veterans who still leave their mark on this team, both positively and sometimes negatively.

Head coach Pete Carroll has been forced to play Thomas, who has said he will not practice through the slightest aches and pains. The young players on the roster are still learning and recent drafts haven’t been exactly stacked with talent to add to the mix.

We have heard every reason for the Seahawks becoming a more pedestrian group. Everything from Pete Carroll’s voice and personality wearing thin, to teams figuring out Russell Wilson, to injuries and Thomas’ holdout have been discussed as possible reasons for the Seahawks slow decline.

One thing that hasn’t help restock the talent has been the recent drafts. When you analyze who is still on the roster and what contributions they have made, you begin to understand the gaps in talent. Let’s look back at the drafts since the Super Bowl win at the end of the 2013 season to see the real culprit.
