Bobby Wagner

Bobby Wagner was drafted by the Seattle in the 2012 College draft in the second round out of Utah State. The Seahawks were looking for a replacement at the middle linebacker spot for David Hawthorne.

Barrett Ruud was expected to be the starting middle linebacker that season, however, he was injured before training camp started so when the 2012 season started head coach Pete Carroll named Bobby Wagner the starter. T

In week six of his rookie season, Wagner made a season-high 14 combined tackles against the New England Patriots. He finished t2012 with a combined 140 tackles including 87 solo. Pro Football Focus named him the number two inside linebacker along with being the number one rookie linebacker of the year.

Wagner has been among the top middle linebackers throughout his career. He missed two games in 2013, but still had 120 combined tackles with 72 solo. That season he was able to play in his first Super Bowl on February 2, 2014, against the Denver Broncos in the lopsided 43-8 win. He made 10 combined tackles in that game.

In 2014 he suffered a turf toe injury that kept him out of five games however he still ended up with 104 combined tackles. Despite missing those five games he made his first pro bowl. Since then he has been named to every Pro Bowl.

Though the Seahawks didn’t make the playoffs in 2017 Wagner was rated the best linebacker in the NFL by Pro Football Focus. Any question that he has been an outstanding middle linebacker since his rookie season.
