Seattle Seahawks at Denver Broncos

Ed Stein – It’s going to be a close game no matter who wins. The Seahawks offense is going up against a tough Denver defense. Not good news for a team with their both their starting wideouts recovering from injuries and a new featured back, Rashaad Penny. For the Hawks to score points it will be on quarterback Russell Wilson to make plays on the fly.

The Denver offensive coaching staff is fortunate to play the Seahawks this week. They roll out a new quarterback Case Keenum, and a rookie running Royce Freeman. It’s almost an ideal situation for them, due to facing an average defensive line, a missing Pro Bowl-caliber linebacker,  and a secondary in flux with the return of Earl Thomas. Keenum will have time for his excellent cast of receivers to get open.

I’m torn on this one. Football is a game of matchups and I’m not sure that the Seahawks match up well this week. Two weeks from now I’d easily take Seattle, but in week one Denver will pull out a win.

Jason Reed – Although we here at LA Sports Hub want the Denver Broncos to lose, it will be Denver that walks away with the victory.

The Denver defense will simply be too overpowering for the Seahawks offensive line and Russell Wilson will do all he can to carry Seattle to victory. Unfortunately, that won’t be enough and the Broncos will win a close, low-scoring, contest.

Jordan Cordano –  The Seahawks visit the Mile high city for this week one NFC/AFC matchup. Seattle will look to implement their young running backs vs a tough Denver defense. The Seahawks defense will need to get back on track after showing signs of falling off last year.

Denver is trotting out their new starting quarterback in Case Keenum who they brought in from Minnesota. Denver’s veteran wideouts (Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders) and new rookie running back, out of Oregon, Royce Freeman will provide a daunting task for the Hawks defense to try and slow down. Seattle is notorious for starting out slow and unfortunately won’t have enough of Russell Wilson’s miracles to throw at the Broncos. Broncos win it in a close one.

Matt Barry – I have gone back and forth on this one. Week 1 in the NFL can be a crapshoot. The Seahawks have some question marks as do the Broncos. The game is in Denver, which makes it tough on the Seahawks. However, I think Russell Wilson has a decided advantage at quarterback. I like Seattle in a tight, low scoring game.
