Change the mindset

Everything right now looks bleak for our Mariners today, but I encourage people to think differently. The only way is to be positive.

More from Seattle Mariners

Let’s start with the fact that the Mariners are only five-and-a-half games back of the second American League wild-card spot with 22 games left. That’s still within striking distance.

If you would have told me at the beginning of the season that our Seattle Mariners would be in this position, I would have deemed you crazy. We also have to remember that even just a couple weeks ago, we weren’t too far from first place in the west.

Have the Mariners fallen apart in the second half of the season? Absolutely. There are still 22 games to go through for the Mariners as they try to end one of the longest playoff droughts in American sports.

There are still have three more games with Oakland at Safeco. Additionally, the M’s play AL West cellar dwellers, the Texas Rangers seven more times. If we can take care of our business, hopefully, Oakland can lose a few and we can claw our way back to the second wild-card spot. It’s all still right in front of us.

Next. Mariners top minor league prospects. dark

This year has been a strange one indeed. The ups and downs are probably the most extreme that any of us have experienced. Right now this is a down time but with every down time comes good times. Hopefully that “good time” can come in the form of a playoff birth via a wild-card spot. Here’s to hoping.
