Seattle Seahawks: Rays of sunshine to take handoffs from Wilson
Recent running woes
So yes we’ve been lucky to see a few greats in the past decade and a half. However, ever since Marshawn Lynch‘s retirement/time off from football, the Hawks have struggled heavily to find a running back replacement. Since Lynch, Seattle has used a plethora of running backs, that for all intents and purposes, were complete duds.
Bryce Brown, Robert Turbin, Thomas Rawls, George Farmer, Fred Jackson, Christine Michael, Tre Madden, J.D. McKissic, Alex Collins, Troymaine Pope, C.J. Spiller, C.J. Prosise, Mike Davis, Eddie Lacy, and Chris Carson. Last year, Carson was doing pretty well until he got injured so judgment is reserved on him until he can provide a better sample size.
In 2017, the running stats were impressibly awful. In total, the Hawks rushed for 1629 yards. If you take out Russell Wilson’s 586 yards, all the running backs got last year was 1043 yards. That totals to an astonishing 65.18 yards per game over the full 16 games they played last year. That, my friends, is special indeed.
That list of 16 running backs is everyone who has taken a snap after Lynch. None of them ever had success. Michael, Collins, and Rawls were really the only one that showed some skill but they were very inconsistent. Time for this to change right?
