The Seattle Mariners started the 2018 season on fire. After the all-star break, they have cooled off considerably. Has M’s Manager Scott Servais earned any consideration for A.L. Manager of the Year?

As the MLB season winds down, talk of postseason individual awards picks up. The Seattle Mariners have had a good season so far. Has it been good enough for their skipper Scott Servais to be considered for the American League Manager of the year?

Hot Start

The date is July 5th, 2018. Your Seattle Mariners are just coming off of a series win of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to propel them to a 56-32 record, and an eight-game lead on the Oakland Athletics for the second American League wild-card spot.

Everything seemed cool, calm and collected on that hot July day in Seattle. The team was buzzing.  The media had the Mariners on nearly every half hour segment. Scott Servais seemed to be making all the right calls in midst of all of those one-run victories that Mariners fans had grown so fond of.

It’s easy to make decisions when things are going well. Early in the season, the offense was good enough to overcome mediocre pitching. Things changed around the halfway point for the M’s.
