Seattle Mariners: Top 50 players of all time
By Nick Lee
30. Jose Lopez (2004-2010)
Lopez made his major league and Mariners’ debut in 2004 as a 20-year-old. He played mostly second base for the M’s throughout his seven seasons with the club.
His best season came in 2009, when he set career highs in home runs (25), RBI (96), doubles (42) and OPS (.766). He was an All-Star in 2006 when he hit .282.
Lopez collected 380 hits and 80 home runs during his time in Seattle. He posted a 10.2 WAR as a Mariner. In 2010, he was traded to the Rockies.
29. Julio Cruz (1977-1983)
A rangy middle-infielder, Cruz was never a home run hitter (17 home runs in seven seasons in Seattle), but the man could flash the leather.
He posted a 12.7 WAR in his time with the Mariners, 17th in franchise history among position players. He led the American League in fielding percentage for second basemen in 1978.
