We explain why the Seattle Mariners will still be in realistic contention for a postseason spot when they reach the MLB All-Star break.

Things were looking so good for the Seattle Mariners after they beat the Toronto Blue Jays on June 9. Sitting at 31-31, the 4-2 win over the Jays represented their 10th victory in 12 games.

Further, despite an early season barrage of injuries, the Mariners were amazingly just 1.5 games back of a Wild Card spot. Unfortunately, since last reaching .500, the wheels have started to fall off.

Despite Sunday’s 7-3 victory over the Texas Rangers, the M’s have won just three of their last nine games. As a result, they find themselves with a record of 34-37 as of Monday morning.

However, all hope is not lost – there’s still everything to play for. As such, we now present three reasons why the Mariners will still be in realistic contention for a postseason spot, once we reach the MLB All-Star break on July 9.
