Ethan Pocic will stick at right tackle

Word on the street right now is that Ethan Pocic will start out at right tackle for the Seahawks. Offensive line coach Tom Cable loves to move guys around and mix and match to find someone who can block for Wilson and open up running lanes. Since the Seahawks want to go back to their roots offensively by pounding the rock, Cable will be looking for guys who can create space and maybe block a bit for the quarterback.

Pocic is noted for his versatility, and Seattle was mostly lauded for choosing him late in the second round last month. Scouts see him as a solid starter right away at either center or tackle, but with the Seahawks’ most useful incumbent offensive lineman, Justin Britt, already settled at center, Pocic will get his first crack at the roster at the right tackle.

Pocic will be one of the more scrutinized rookies in minicamp this year because he’ll be relied upon to anchor the offensive line in his first year. A versatile offensive lineman is just what Cable and the Seahawks need.

I could easily see Pocic taking over at right tackle and running away with the position early in camp. Seattle’s o-line has been a work in progress for years, but Cable and Carroll have an opportunity to plug in a starter at right tackle heading into the 2017 season, and the sooner they make a bed for Pocic there, the more comfortable he’ll be on Week One.
