Hitting: B

The Mariners averaged 5.3 runs per game and even reached double digits twice during the week. This grade would be higher if they did not nearly get no-hit in Tuesday’s 5-0 loss to Miami and then forget the bats for the middle games of the four-game series in Oakland.

Taylor Motter has been special. His average went down a bit but he still hit two home runs, including a grand slam on Sunday. He drove in six runs this week.

Mitch Haniger continues his hot start, hitting .391 in the last seven games. Robinson Cano seems to be finding his groove again. He started this week batting .212 and is now at .269 with another home run.

Nelson Cruz is all but out of his early season slump. He drove in six runs and hit .389 with three doubles this week.

All in all, the bats are waking up. It’s time for the pitching and hitting to sync up.
