Texas Rangers, May 5-7

This is the only weekend home series against the Texas Rangers. It is critical to the Mariners’ playoff hopes to beat the two teams from Texas.

They struggled mightily against the Rangers for most of last season. This would be a fun weekend to pack Safeco Field to support the M’s against their AL West rivals.

Plus, fans will get the Beard Hat on Friday and a Felix Hernandez bobblehead on Saturday. In addition, Sunday is Little League Day, with kids getting to take home a Kyle Seager Mariners hat.

The Rangers stand in the way of the M’s making the playoffs. Beating them at home is something they did not do very much last year.

Their lack of success against the Rangers last season cost them a playoff spot. Making Safeco a loud, packed, electric place early in the season would set the tone for the rest of the year against the AL West.
