2) Motivation

The two biggest knocks against Lacy since Tuesday’s announcement, have been his weight and recent durability issues. Let’s consider both aspects, which admittedly do hold some relevance.

According to Bob McGinn of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the 2013 Pro Bowler weighed in at a hefty 267 pounds during one of his recent free agent visits. Seahawks’ head coach Pete Carroll played this down, by telling ESPN’s Sheil Kapadia that he wants the running back to be big.

Regardless of Carroll’s comments, the preference is for Lacy to be around the 240-pound range. In addition, his contract includes a weight clause, which should help inspire him.

Talking of inspiration, the other factor which concerns some people, is the Gretna, Louisiana native’s injury issues last season. He was limited to five games, after injuring his ankle and being placed on injured reserve in late October.

Lacy also dealt with an array of issues during the 2015 campaign, although he still managed to appear in 15 games, starting 12 of them. Overall though, along with the fact he is only on a one-year deal, there is no reason to believe he won’t be supremely motivated to prove he still has a future in the NFL.
