Three Seahawks Free Agent Targets
By Ben Renner
Terrelle Pryor
The only glimmer of hope on two of my (three) underachieving fantasy teams last fall, Pryor will likely cost more than $10 million per season after his breakout year with the Cleveland Browns. If I ran the Browns, (everyone who has ever played ‘Franchise Mode’ in Madden thinks they can run the Browns) I’d re-sign Pryor today and be done with it. One of the advantages of being terrible is that Cleveland has virtually unlimited cap space.
But if Pryor heads to free agency this Thursday, expect a ton of interest. Receiver may not be an obvious point of weakness for the Seahawks right now, but Carroll and Schneider have decisions to make regarding the future of the position. Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett provided he recovers well from his broken leg, are the nominal starters for the foreseeable future. Everyone else is up in the air, so to speak. Jimmy Graham is a free agent after next season. Jermaine Kearse, after losing his starting job in 2016, may not be the answer. The Seahawks could extend Graham this offseason. If they let him play out his contract, they’d like to add a big, fast replacement. And that man is the former quarterback from Ohio State.
Pryor broke out this season despite awful quarterback play in Cleveland because he still has elite size, hands, and speed. The 6’5″, 240 lbs receiver ran a blazing 4.38 at the combine. It will cost any team to sign him, but the Seahawks would be smart to make a play.
