3) Leading the way at third base
It turned out that the 2010 campaign was merely setting the scene for Valencia. The following year would be even better for him.
He proved to be a leader for the Twins, in the literal sense. By the end of the 2011 season, he finished first among all his teammates in games played, at bats and RBIs.
In respect of the league as a whole, he was also a leader among all third basemen. He played the most games at third base in the AL and led all Major League third basemen with 260 assists.
