Mariners Power Past Chicago with Walk-Offs
Game Two
After the glorious victory the night prior, the Mariners received a good old fashioned butt kicking from Chicago thanks to a flurry of home runs by the southsiders and a great performance from Jose Quintana.
Brett Lawrie got the scoring started with a solo home run in the secnd off of starter Wade Miley. Robinson Cano tied it with a solo blast of his own in the 4th, but that was the only offense the Mariners would get Tuesday night.
Melky Cabrera hit a solo home run and J.B. Shuck drove in Todd Frazier with a single, both in the 7th. Joaquin Benoit struggled mightily in the 9th, giving up a two-run shot to Frazier, and then David Rollins gave up a double to Dioner Navarro which scored Schuck who got on base off of Benoit. The White Sox won 6-1.
Game 2 Notes
Quintana had a nice outing with six innings and only a Robinson Cano solo home run. With him and Sale, the White Sox have a very nice 1-2 punch in their rotation.
Edwin Diaz is great. Another 1,2,3 inning AND he struck out the side. He is absolutely filthy.
Sorry Benoit but I have officially given up on you, as has most of Seattle.
Lost in this was Cruz having a 3 hit day and Daniel Robertson going 2-3.
I thought Miley pitched pretty well honestly. They have a solid lineup and he did what he could and didn’t get much help from his offense.
