Seahawks News and Links

It’s a long way to go before the Seahawks’ season kicks off, and while we have the Mariners to tide us over until then, the anticipation is already building.
One reason the anticipation is building already for the Seahawks‘ season in May is because the Seahawks have arguably the best roster in the NFL. According to NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks, the Seahawks boast the most talent-laden roster in the league.
Brooks’ calculations didn’t include rookies because they have yet to prove themselves on the field, but rookies are part of the reason why ESPN writer and Seattle native John Clayton doesn’t see free agent running back Arian Foster wearing Seahawk green this fall. After re-signing Christine Michael and drafting C.J. Prosise, Alex Collins, and Zac Brooks late last month, Clayton doesn’t see room for the aging star. If the Seahawks do ever make a move to bring in the veteran, most think it would be just before the regular season starts.
One of the Seahawks draft picks, defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson, used to be a Best Buy employee only five years ago. After training hard and lifting huge televisions into tiny cars, he finally made it back to playing shape, and his dream came true during the fifth round of the NFL Draft last month. Sheil Kapadia wrote a nice story about him on ESPN.
The Seahawks are still setting their roster and OTAs have only just begun, but already expectations are high and the Seahawks are expected once again to contend for the Lombardi Trophy. One position competition I will be keeping an eye on this summer is running back.
Everyone expects Thomas Rawls to be the starter, but what if someone like Prosise impresses in camp? Something’s gotta give on a roster loaded with running backs. The odd man out could be who we least expect. Stay tuned.
